Hann Reserve in Capas, Tarlac is a premier integrated golf and leisure estate being developed within the New Clark City area in Central Luzon.
Challenge
Due to the naturally rolling terrain and varying ground elevations within the Hann Reserve development, extensive excavation, grading, and earthworks are necessary to accommodate roads, building platforms, and other site improvements. These activities may expose soil slopes to potential instability and erosion, particularly during heavy rainfall events common in the area.
Solution
To maintain slope stability and support adjacent roads and structures while following the required design grade and geometry of the development, retaining walls are deemed necessary within the project site. In this case, gabions in conjunction with geosynthetic grids were utilized to construct a 16-meter- high Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) wall system, providing a flexible and durable retaining structure capable of accommodating site conditions and minimizing erosion. The system also offers efficient construction, good drainage characteristics, and long-term stability suitable for the development requirements of Hann Reserve.

Installation Methodology
Construction started with clearing and preparing the slope to create a stable foundation for the wall system. Afterwards, drainage and reinforcement materials were installed, while soil was carefully placed and compacted in layers to strengthen the structure. In addition, protection measures were incorporated at the base and surface of the slope to minimize erosion and water damage. As a result, the completed system provides a durable and long-term solution for slope stability and protection.
